New Housing Coming to Clyde River
The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is working together with Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) and the other two Regional Inuit Associations as part of the Angirratsaliulauqta Strategy—a shared effort to help address the housing needs in our communities.
QIA’s regional housing initiative will bring new housing to all 13 Qikiqtani communities. As part of Phase One, 21 homes will be built across four communities—including five homes here in Clyde River.
This important work is being made possible through funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), as well as QIA’s portion of the distinctions-based housing funding provided in Federal Budget 2022.
The goal is to build affordable, high-quality homes that meet the needs of Inuit families and workers, and that reflect Inuit culture, values, and way of life. These homes will help provide stability, comfort, and opportunity for Inuit living in our communities.
In Clyde River, five single-family homes will be constructed, with work set to begin this fall/winter 2025.
