Christmas Closure Dates

The Municipality of Clyde River will be open and closed on the following dates this year for the Christmas holidays:

Friday December 24th (Christmas Eve):  Open in the morning closed in the afternoon
Saturday December 25th- Tuesday 28th: Closed
Friday December 31st (New Years Eve): Open in the morning closed in the afternoon
Reopening Monday January 3rd.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is observed every November 11th of each year by the Municipality of Clyde River as it as since the beginning of incorporation of the Municipality of Clyde River on July 1st, 1979. Since July 1st is Canada Day, Hamlet Day is celebrated every July 2nd of each year.


Halloween starts October 31st, 2021. Recreation Department received boxes of candies to give out for trick or treats.

Starts at 4:00pm.

Halloween Costume Contest

Quluaq School will hold this years Halloween costume contest on October 29th, 2021 at 11:00 am

Christmas Gift Giving  

This special time of year for sharing love and spreading joy extends to all children in the community.  They need no labels – naughty or nice – is not a requirement.  Every child in the community is given a special gift on Christmas Day so that we can see the beautiful smiles on their faces. Join us with your children at the Community Hall in the afternoon on Christmas Day to pick up their specially selected gift packages.

Nunavut Day      

Come celebrate our culture and heritage! There will be so much to do, see and taste. Fashion show, live barbecue and much more at the Community Hall. Want to stay at home but be involved? Participate in the radio game shows. You cannot afford to miss this event.

Hamlet Day

Another day of celebration! Participate in our radio game shows. Try our various competitions and Inuit games. Lots of prizes to be won.


Canada Day

Much to see and do on this commemorative day. Bicycle decorating competition, cake decorating contest, make-your-own-clothes contest (traditional and non-traditional), Inuit games and much more.

We will have Barbecue, traditional food, games and activities such as Festive Costume Contest, etc. during Canada Day.
